From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to go next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death started the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and advises that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Fans can anticipate learning which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
